Tim & Kristin’s adorable love story

Tim and Kristin met thanks to a seat mix-up on a flight back to LA, where they now live. An older gentleman made a last-minute switch happen, and fate took it from there. Since family was flying in from all over, they wanted a venue that felt special and rooted in place. Eolia Mansion delivered: historic charm, ocean views, and lush gardens wrapped in small-town Connecticut magic. Harkness was the perfect place to bring everyone together.

Getting Ready at Eolia Mansion

Kristin chose to get ready at a local airbnb, moving over to the venue right before first look! Eolia’s softly lit bridal suite became the perfect space for Kristin’s final touches.

An Intimate First Look in the gardens at Eolia Mansion

Kristin and Tim chose to do their first look in my favorite spot at Eolia, the sunken side garden. So many good reasons why my go-to recommendation!

• Lush greenery, blooming flowers not only make it romanic, but also filled with beautiful nature sounds
• Families can watch from above inside the bridal suite, giving them the chance to feel included without interrupting
• This space really provides a romantic spot to pause, laugh, breathe, and soak in all the pre-ceremony excitement

A Ceremony by the Sea

The ceremony was held near the beach, allowing guests to explore the expansive and picturesque grounds of Harkness Memorial Park. Guests were greeted by a bagpipe and the sound of waves crashing the beach. Even on a hot summer day, the ocean breeze makes the entire area feel magical as vows are said in front of loved ones.

Cocktail Hour and Stunning Views

As the ceremony concluded, guests were invited to enjoy cocktail hour in the side gardens. Grand views of Long Island Sound provided a breathtaking backdrop for mingling and photo opportunities. A Thyme to Cook, ensured that everything flowed seamlessly, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the moment. Kristin + Tim wanted great food, a great atmosphere, and the perfect location for friends to enjoy. As I looked out over their day unfolding, each of these three things could not be more apparent. 

Wedding Details at Eolia Mansion

Muted soft greens, white, cream, and pale pink, seamlessly blended with the venue’s natural beauty. The flowers played a significant role in enhancing the elegant and timeless feel of their day.

For the ceremony and cocktail hour outside, they chose a vibrant wildflower chandelier, adding to the lively and joyous atmosphere. These flowers created a harmonious connection with the natural surroundings and grounds.

Soft and elegant floral arrangements aligned with their classic vision, allowing the mansion to speak for itself. The warm glow of the sunset illuminated the mansion’s cozy rooms, adorned with fireplaces, tall windows, and soft candlelight.

Elegant Toasts and Dancing

The back patio served as the perfect spot for heartfelt toasts and the couple’s first dance. The speeches, another highlight of the day, brought laughter, tears, and a deep sense of connection among the guests. Following the toasts, an intimate dinner was served inside the mansion. Harkness has one of the most inviting and romantic atmosphere’s for Connecticut venues.

Sneaking away for Golden Hour Fun

We snuck away from dinner for a little golden hour walk. Kristin and Tim soaked in the last moments of light, listening to their guests dine and laugh from inside.

A Night of Celebration

The night continued with dancing and great music, exactly what Tim and Kristin had envisioned for their celebration. Despite having 130 guests, the intimacy of Eolia Mansion’s grounds made the day feel personal and special. The combination of great people, beautiful music, and the elegant, timeless setting created an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
