I can’t wait to share photos from Laura & Matt’s wedding at the Hillstead Museum! Not only was I absolutely in love with this venue, but spending time with this couple was so much fun. Laura & Matt have been together for so long, and to finally see them publicly declare their love for each other was amazing. They were laid back, relaxed, and ultra calm throughout their wedding, which made their day such a breeze!
Like I mentioned earlier, there’s nothing I didn’t love about their wedding venue. They held their reception at the outdoor space, and the photos we took on the property were perfect. They also offer indoor event spaces as well, for couples who are getting married in the fall/winter or would just prefer to have their reception indoors. It’s located in Farmington Valley, CT and was built by a pioneering female architect for her father. The grounds are so peaceful, and every time of the year is gorgeous there. There is a sunken garden, and fields in the back that used to be a golf course in the early 19th century, and stone walls that outline the property. The Hill-stead Museum is such a beautiful, historical venue, and I would recommend it to almost any couple who wants that classic New England charm! L & M’s ceremony was held in the exact same church that Laura’s grandparents’ wedding ceremony was held, which was such a nostalgic touch for them. She also wanted to recreate some of her grandmother’s wedding photos in the church, which I was all for! I love when couples choose to incorporate their personal family history into their wedding day – it creates such a deeper meaning to such an important day. Laura & Matt had a large, wooden wall displayed during their cocktail hour with previous wedding photos from all of their family members. When I saw this, I couldn’t believe the thought and intention that went into it!
After their church ceremony, we headed to Hillstead for their cocktail hour and and reception. They wanted to spend as much time with their guests as possible, so we took most of their photos during their first look so that they could enjoy cocktail hour with their friends and family. They truly just wanted to have a blast hanging out with their loved ones all day! Laura & Matt’s wedding day timeline was completely customized to their priorities (thank you Soirees & Revelry for being such an amazing planner to work with!), and I highly recommend each couple do the same. However you want to spend your wedding day, be sure to advocate to make that happen.
The day itself was a dream – perfect weather, light, and temperature. That’s not always the case in CT, so we were all extremely satisfied with the way the weather decided to be on our side. Their day was non-stop joy and fun from the moment they started getting ready to them dancing the night away at their reception. They enjoyed every part of being around their family + friends, were so happy to just be together and never seemed overwhelmed. It was amazing to see a couple so involved in their wedding day experience with all of their guests!
Thank you to all of L & M’s vendors who contributed to making their day as fun and joyful as possible!
